農業王国タイで学んだことWhat I learned in Thailand, an Agricultural PowerhouseI went to Thailand for a week, with the goal of comparing agriculture in Iwate and ailand and creating a business plan. I had heard that it is uncomfortable in ailand because it is in the tropics, but the weather was pleasant when we went there in December. We ate mostly rice, and the food was spicier than I had expected, but tasty. What struck me the most about our meals was Thai rice. Japanese people usually say that Thai rice does not taste good, but I found it to be sweet and delicious. We went to rice paddies and rice polishing factories, and we learned that they export rice to 160 countries in addition to consuming it domestically. I was so surprised at the large scale of farming in ailand and how much rice they produce. In Japan, most rice is produced on family farms and consumed domestically, so it is hard to imagine rice farming in ailand. After that, we talked with the ai students in English about the current situation of, and issues concerning, agriculture. We enjoyed talking with the students of Bangkok Christian College, one of the best high schools in Thailand. This is an all-boys school, but some of the boys clearly looked like girls, and I thought that ailand is tolerant of LGBT. I was amazed at how good the students’ English was. We studied ai language and traditional dance, and we talked with Thai students who are studying Japanese. The Thai students were interested in anime, so it was easy to talk with them. I learned a lot on this trip and had fun.　私はSGHプログラム海外派遣で岩手と世界の農業を比較し、それに基づいてビジネスプランを立てる目的でタイに１週間行ってきました。タイは日本と違い、熱帯の気候で過ごしにくいといわれていますが、実際は12月だったこともあり、過ごしやすい気候でした。　また、タイの食事に関しては、主食は米でその他はスパイシーなものが多く、想像以上に辛かったですが、全体的に美味しかったです。　そして、その食事のなかでもっとも印象深かったのは「タイ米」です。タイ米は日本人の間では、あまりおいしくないと批判的に思われがちですが、実際のところは甘みもあって美味しかったです。また、田んぼや精米所を訪れるなど、フィールドワークを通して、国内で生産した米を国内で消費するだけでなく、160カ国以上の国に輸出していることも分かりました。私はタイの農業の大規模な経営と世界でも有数の生産力にただただ驚くばかりでした。このような経営方針は個人経営がメインで、国内消費で留めている日本にとっては、なかなか実感がわかないことだと思います。その後、現地の生徒とお互いの農業について英語で議論し、農業の現状や課題を確認しあうことができました。　文化交流においてはタイの中でもっとも優秀な学校であるバンコク・クリスチャン・カレッジの生徒と深い交流ができました。その学校は男子校ではありますが、中には明らかに女性に見える男子（いわゆるオネエ）もいて、LGBTに寛容なタイだからこそなんだと思いました。しかし見た目に反して、英語を流暢に話すため、それには圧倒されていました。授業はタイ語の勉強や伝統的な踊り、また第２言語として日本語を勉強しているタイの生徒も多いので、その生徒との交流も行いました。全体的にタイの生徒は日本のアニメに関心を持っていて、会話の内容に困ることなく楽しく話せました。本当に今回の研修は、学びの多い、楽しい研修でした。２年SZ組　太田　陽介Yosuke Ota : StudentI was surprised when everyone stopped in their tracks at 6 PM to listen to the national anthem. On the weekend, I went to a temple with my host family. e golden buildings there were very ornate, and I could feel their history. I could not have predicted all of the new experiences I had in Thailand, but it was all very stimulating and fun.I want to think with the students from Bangkok Christian College about how to make use of what we learned during our time together in the business world. I want to use what I learned on this trip in my future studies.ホストと寺院に行きました。黄金で煌びやかな建物が多く、歴史を感じさせるものばかりでした。タイでの生活は予測不可能なことの連続で、刺激的で魅力的なことばかりでした。　今回の研修で学んだことを生かして、どのようなビジネス展開をするかを、バンコククリスチャンカレッジ（BBC）の生徒と考えていきたいと思います。タイ派遣で学んだことを糧にし、今後の進路に生かしたいです。EXCELSIOR vol.18102
