　My name is Kan Moishi, I went to Davidson high school as an international student. I‘ve had a lot of experiences that I could never have done in Japan. Today, I am going to report the experiences. I hope you enjoy it.　一関中学校出身の舞石寛です。私はこの１年間、オーストラリアで普通では経験できないような体験をたくさんしてきました。留学した理由や成長など、私のオーストラリアの生活を報告したいと思います。　初めに留学の目的、決意した理由を説明します。私は小さい頃から家族の影響で洋画を見たり、洋楽が好きで海外のことに興味がありました。母に高校でアメリカ留学を勧められていましたが、自分の英語に自信がなく、する勇気もなかったので地元の高校に入学するつもりでした。でも、いつかは海外で生活したいと思っていました。そこで、盛岡中央高校に留学コースがあると知り、地元で変化のない生活はしたくなかったので入学しました。入学後は、早く留学したいという気持ちでいっぱいで、不安は英語力が足りないということくらいしかなく、ずっと楽しみにしていました。ですが出発日には緊張して、夕食もあまり食べられないくらいだったのを覚えています。　最初の１、２カ月は楽しみながらも、居心地が悪かったり、プレッシャーをよく感じ、自分はこんなにも英語ができなっかったのかと痛感させられました。私はSydneyのDavidson high schoolに行き、ICETという教育機関に入りました。そこには、岡山と大阪から同じように留学してきた生徒がいて、合計約30人のクラスで授業を受け、１年通しlistening,reading,writing、speakingを伸ばす勉強をし、週に10回ほど選択科目をdavidsonの生徒と受けました。日本の黒板に書かれたのを移す授業とは大きく異なり、主にパソコンを使ったり、ディスカッションや実践が多い授業ばかりで、現地の生徒とコミュニケーションをとるのが難しかったです。特に難しかったのは友達を作ることでした。なぜなら、オーストラリア人の一部の人はアジア人を好きではない人がいたり、言葉がうまく通じないことを面倒に思う人もいたのが現実でした。そこで、私はスポーツが好きなのでそれを通して友達を作る努力をしました。友達もでFirst of all, I would like to explain the reasons why I decided to go to Australia to learn English, and write about my growth through my Australian life. I have been interested in watching movies and listening to English music since when I was child, because my family likes doing it as well. When I was a junior high school student, my mother strongly recommended that I go to an American high school, but I was not condent of my English skills and I was not brave, so I planned to go to a high school in my hometown, even though I wanted to live in some other coun-tries someday. One day, I knew that Morioka Chuo High School has an English course in which students can learn English for a whole year in Australia, and I decided to enter Morioka Chuo High School. because I want to live a dierent lifestyle. After that, I wasn’t afraid of living in another country. I just have a problem, which is my lack of English ability, but I was really look-ing forward to going to Australia. However, I remember I was so nervous and I could not eat dinner when I left Japan.At the beginning of my Australian life, I was uncomfortable with the new customs, and I fully realized how terrible my English was. I went to ICET in Davidson High School. ere are about 30 students from Osaka and Okayama who were studying English like me. We studied to improve listening, writing, reading, and speaking in ICET class, and we had elective classes about 10 times a week with Davidson students. ere are big dierences between the Japanese learning style and the Australian one. In Japan, we usually copy in our notebooks what teachers write on the backboard.
