■第１回フォーラムと第１期留学生　1997年10月6日の締結でした。盛岡中央高等学校（以下、MCHS）の第１号姉妹校は、オーストラリアのシドニーにある公立デイヴィッドソン・ハイスクール（以下、DHS）です。時を同じくして留学協定によりICET（州政府認定非営利教育法人−www.icet.edu.au ）の１年間留学コースへの参画がスタートし、翌年には第１回CHUO国際教育フォーラムが開催されました。いま振り返りますと、MCHSの「グローバル教育」の幕開けでした。その後毎年、先生たちのご指導でフォーラムは生徒にとって魅力的かつ刺激的なテーマ・企画で継続進化しながら、現在に至っています。これは龍澤正美理事長先生の、日本の将来展望を見越した先見の明であるとともに、世界中の教育関係者が熱心に尽力されてきた賜物と思います。このフォーラムを中心とした国際理解教育から、青少年たちが受けた恩恵は計り知れず、ここまで大きく発展させていらしたことを、心からお慶び申し上げます。■岡山学芸館高校とICETとMCHS　DHSには、岡山の森教育学園の森靖喜理事長（当時、岡山学芸館高等学校校長）の英語科のクラスの全員を１年間留学させるという大胆なビジョンを実現すべくICETという留学プログラムが学校内に設立されていました。州立の学校の中に私立の教育機関が存在すること自体異例のことなのですが、エドワード・ギャビン氏（= ICET理事）という、かつてNSW州知事の教育顧問であり、NSW州にESL教育と通信教育を普及させた優れた指導者との出会いと協力によって、それまで国内のどこにも存在しない形の長期留学プログラムを、私たちは風光明媚なシドニーに誕生させることができまCongratulations on the 20th anniversary of being sister schools. DHS in Sydney, Australia, was the very first sister school for MCHS. The agreement was signed on the 6th of October 1997. In the 1980s and 90s many sister school relationships were created all over Japan with dierent countries around the world and while many of them have lost meaning and become a mere formality, MCHS has extended its numbers to 21 sister schools in 20 dierent countries over 20 years. In 1998 MCHS held its rst international forum, inviting students and teachers from its sister schools and provided an amazing opportunity for cross-cultural experiences in which people could share their cultures, values, discuss issues, come up with possible solutions, create networks and exchange educational ideas. This forum came together under the insightful vision of Mr. Masaharu Tatsuzawa, the Chairman of the Board, together with the many ideas and efforts of passionate educators from the sister schools. The forum has continued to become bigger, more successful and more signicant.ICET - InterCultural Education Today, a CRICOS school which provides intensive English courses combined with a unique Personal Development Program, was founded as an integral part within DHS in 1995, initiated by Mr. Edward Gavin, an inspirational educator from NSW, Australia.
