Goodwill Visits to Sister Schools NORWAYere are only about 6 hours when it is light and you can get things done, but we got back to the hotel at around 5 so the day felt very long. Norway has 4 distinct seasons. Part of it is in the Arctic Circle, so one would think that winter would be very cold, but the country is warmed by a current so it is warmer than other places that are at the same latitude. The average temperature in December is about -3 degrees Celsius, and it drops to about -9 in January and February. I was surprised that the temperature was not so dierent from the temperature in Japan.Norway stretches from north to south, and there is a big difference in temperature and the number of daylight hours between Oslo in the south and the northern part which is in the Arctic Circle. Kirkenes in the north is 5~10 degrees colder than Oslo. One can see the northern lights in the northern part of Norway, and although I did not have a chance to see them this time, I would like to sometime. It did not snow very much. I also thought that the buildings in Norway were beautiful, and there were both old and modern buildings in the cities.When we went to Oslo Handelsgymnasium we saw a huge, beautiful Christmas tree. e school building was not so big. In contrast with Japan, the students moved from classroom to classroom. Each teacher has their own classroom, which is also dierent from Japan. Also, each student seemed to have their own computer. They drank beverages and chewed gum in class, which is something Japanese students never do. We also had fun skating, going to a Christmas market, and going to a Japanese language class. Almost everyone in Norway has their own skates, and skating is a popular form of exercise. In the Japanese language class, we were surprised at the students’ language ability. ey spoke to us in Japanese and English and seemed to speak Norwegian and English perfectly. I texted one of the students I became friends with, and texted I was amazed that this student works so hard to write me back all in Japanese. is makes me want to work hard to get better at so English. I think that this trip opened my mind. I had a wonderful time. ank you for this opportunity.とても早い時間です。明るいときに活動できる時間が約６時間というとても短い時間で、実際に５時頃にはホテルに戻っていたので一日がとても長く感じました。ノルウェーは四季がはっきりしているそうです。北極圏にある国なので冬（11月〜３月）はとても寒いイメージがありがちですが、暖流の影響もあり、同緯度のほかの地域と比べると比較的穏やかだそうです。この時期の平均気温は−３℃くらいで、１月、２月は−９℃くらいまで下がります。日本とそこまで変わらないことに驚きました。　ノルウェーは南北に長い国なので、首都オスロのある南部と北極圏の北部とではかなり温度差、日照時間の差があります。ノルウェーの北に位置するキルケネスでは、オスロと比べると平均気温が５〜10℃低くなります。ノルウェーの北部ではオーロラが見られるときもあるそうで、今回は行けませんでしたが、いつか行ってみたいと思いました。雪はあまり降っていませんでした。他に思ったことは、ノルウェーは建物がおしゃれです。少しアンティークなところもありながら、現代風の建物で街並みがとてもおしゃれでした。　私たちが訪問したオスロ商業高校には、入ってすぐに及川先生が２人と半分くらいの大きさのクリスマスツリーがあり、とても綺麗でした。校舎はそこまで大きくなかったです。海外では基本的に先生でなく、生徒が学習する内容によって移動します。先生が１つの教室をもっています。そこが日本と違いました。また、生徒はほとんどがパソコンを持っていたように思います。授業中は飲み物を飲んだり、ガムを食べたり、日本の高校では見ない光景でした。それ以外では、スケートをしたり、クリスマスマーケットに行ったり、日本語クラスの生徒と学習したり、とても充実していたと思います。ノルウェーではほとんどみんなが自分のスケート靴を持っていて、スケートがポピュラーな運動であると思いました。日本語クラスの生徒との学習では、現地の生徒たちのコミュニケーション能力に驚きました。現地の生徒は、公用語であるノルウェー語はもちろん、私たちに話しかけるときは、日本語と英語を使い分け、最低でもノルウェー語と英語は完璧な二ヵ国語で話していました。友達になった生徒とはメールなどしていますが、すべて日本語で送ってきて努力がすごいと思います。私もこの経験を機に、英語を頑張ろうと思いました。今回の姉妹校派遣で将来への視野が広がったように思います。　貴重な体験をすることができ、よかったです。このような機会をいただき、ありがとうございました。EXCELSIOR vol.1894
