　　I would like to extend a very warm welcome to everyone present today – the teachers and students from 17 countries and regions, our guests from Iwate and other prefectures, and parents of students. I greatly appreciate your coming to the 20th Chuo International Education Forum.　　 I would also like to thank the Japanese Foreign Ministry, the Embassies of the countries and regions where our sister schools are located, and the Iwate Prefecture and Morioka City Boards of Education for sponsoring this event.　　This forum has been held every year since 1999, and this year is a special 20th Forum. We have been able to hold the forum so many years thanks to the support of everyone at our sister schools, the help of everyone involved, and the support of our community. Thank you very much. We are continuing to develop the forum by organizing study sessions for students and roundtables for teachers - in addition to the main event on forum day - to give everyone an opportunity to look at issues from an international perspective.　　The theme of this year’s forum is “An Ideal School in 2030 – Transforming our World Using the SDGs”. This theme is based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 Targets in the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. These days, the world is becoming borderless and more global - especially in terms of economies - at a rapid pace. As a result, the gap between rich and poor, both between countries and within each country, is becoming conspicuous. We should work to decrease this gap in order to increase people’s happiness and to promote globalization. We need to discuss as teachers and students at our schools how to address this issue and to work towards the 17 goals to change the world. 　　Let us recognize the problems facing us, learn together about them, search for solutions, and recognize our common future. I hope that the forum will be an opportunity for students to become leaders who will work towards a peaceful world.　　At this year’s forum, we will sign a sister school agreement with Seaford Secondary College. In addition, we will present a Certificate of Appreciation to Bui Thi Xuan High School in Vietnam, which has been a sister school of ours for 20 years. 　　I hope that the participants from around the world at this year’s Forum will get to know each other and form friendships as a result of this event.　世界17の国と地域の先生と生徒の皆様、そして県内外のご来賓の皆様方、保護者の皆様方、ようこそ盛岡中央高等学校の第20回CHUO国際教育フォーラムにおいでくださいました。ありがとうございます。心から歓迎申し上げます。　また、今回のフォーラム開催にあたりましては、日本国外務省、海外から参加国の大使館をはじめ岩手県教育委員会ならびに盛岡市教育委員会などからのご後援を得て開催できますことを大変うれしく思っておりますとともに、厚く御礼申し上げます。　このフォーラムは1999年から毎年開催しており、今回は第20回の記念すべき開催となります。20年の長きにわたり継続できましたのも、ひとえに姉妹校の皆様、多くの関係者の皆様、地域の支えがあったればこそと深く感謝申し上げます。フォーラムの内容も生徒の研修会はもとより、生徒と教員、教員同士のグローバルな視点での研修等、年々充実したものとなっております。　今回は、『An ideal school in 2030 -Transforming our world using the SDGs、世界を変えるための学校づくり』というテーマを設定いたしました。2015年9月の国連総会で採択された『我々の世界を変革する：持続可能な開発のための2030アジェンダ』に提示された17のゴール・169のターゲットから構成されている具体的行動指針に基づいています。現在、世界では主に経済的な分野で国境のボーダーレス化、グローバル化が驚くべき速さで進行しています。それによって、国同士の格差、それぞれの国内における格差も顕著になってきています。世界人類の幸福のためにも、グローバル化の推進とともに格差の縮小が望まれます。世界を変えるための17の目標に向かって、学校として、生徒として、どのように取り組むべきか、どのような行動ができるか、を議論してまいります。　各国から参加いただきました皆さんとともに、問題意識を共有し、認識を深め、それぞれの解決策を模索することで、共生の心を持って、平和な世界を実現するリーダーとなるための契機にして欲しいと願うものです。　なお、今回のフォーラムでは、新姉妹校オーストラリアSeaford Secondary Collegeとの姉妹校締結式も行います。また、姉妹校締結20年目のベトナムBui Thi Xuan High Schoolへの感謝状の贈呈もあります。　世界各国からおいでいただきました皆様とともに、このフォーラムを通して、相互理解と友情の絆が一層強く大きなものになることを期待して、歓迎のご挨拶といたします。挨　拶An Ideal School in 2030 – Transforming our World Using the SDGsKenji ChibaPrincipal of Morioka Chuo High School世界を変えるための学校づくり盛岡中央高等学校・附属中学校　校長　千葉　研二GREETINGSEXCELSIOR vol.2010
