　私のフォーラム ＊　 My Forumwith the most wonderful memories of a week shared with many informed and dedicated educationalists. Thank you.　オツモエタイ・カレッジの校長代理として、2011年の大震災の年の参加に続き、今回が2度目の参加となります。2011年のフォーラムと被災地の光景は一生忘れることがないでしょう。今年のフォーラムは今までと何かが違い、17の国と地域から参加した教員と教授法を深く討論できる機会もありました。私にとってのハイライトは、生徒たちの国連SDGsゴールについて討論の力になれたことです。翌日には教員同士で、今実質的に行うための教授法の知識を、学術的アプローチで紐解きました。どちらも難題ではありましたが、知識を得られました。このような分野でのフォーラムの発展にお礼を申し上げます。フォーラムの日は、様々な考え方を耳にし、感心いたしました。温泉もとても楽しく、文化祭の日も楽しい1日となりました。　盛岡中央高校の教職員の皆さんは親切で、思いやりがあります。知識が豊富で一緒に過ごした熱心な教育者とともに、この滞在が思い出深く心に残っています。　　In contrast with New Zealand, Morioka has an entirely different culture. Extremely academically driven, the students at Morioka Chuo High-school have 15 hour days of full on school work and extra curriculars. In Otumoetai College, we pride ourselves on our achievements and excelling in all aspects of life. Though the hours of school are in New Zealand are not as excessive, the educational system in New Zealand allows for students to have all types of aspirations and the equipment and classes to assist them in pursuing them. Nearly half if not more students that attended Morioka Chuo had 90 hours each week. Without realising, we were amazed by this and extremely surprised that children aged 8-18 have such long days with minimal social interactions. 　　We have become extremely grateful of the hours, school work, classes and opportunities presented to us students. The determination of the Japanese students is an attitude that needs to be used at Otumoetai. Each student has great potential and by having the opportunity to travel to Morioka, we have come to the revelation that by travelling, gaining cultural knowledge, and learning more about ourselves we have become better learners and leaders. With this realisation, truly anything is possible.　ニュージーランドと比べて、盛岡には全く違う文化があります。教育に関して力を注ぎ、盛岡中央は授業と部活動合わせ1日15時間あります。オツモエタイは今までの実績やすべての分野に関して優秀であることを誇りにしています。ニュージーランドでは授業時間はそれ程多くありません。教育システムは生徒たちへ様々な願望を持たせ、その希望を叶えるために必要な教材を備えてあります。ほぼ半数の中央の生徒は、週に90時間学習しています。感心したと同時に、子どもたちがこんなに長い時間を学校で過ごすことに大変驚きました。　盛岡で過ごした中で、交流活動、クラス参加の機会を与えていただき感謝します。日本の生徒の熱心さはオツモエタイの生徒も見習うべきです。それぞれの生徒に可能性がありますが、もしも盛岡訪問のチャンスがあれば、日本文化を学ぶと同時に、自分自身を知るきっかけになり、よりよい学習者、リーダーに成長出来るでしょう。この気づきにより、すべてのことが可能になった気がします。　　We have gained more from Morioka than we ever imagined doing so. Not only did we gain new friends, visit new places, and sample new food, we also learnt so much about ourselves and our preconceptions. Japan was a cultural shock, a completely different, very hot, wonderful country in which we all learnt so much. Being involved in such a culturally diverse meeting of people and being the representative for New Zealand was humbling and we loved every moment of it. We’ve gained different viewpoints on education at a global scale. Seeing how New Zealand fit amongst the countries and their stances on education was so interesting, and this was invaluable to us all. Despite the sometimes intense language barriers, everyone was lovely and cared so much for all of us -slightly out of depth- international students. The social interactions we had with both the Japanese and global students were amazing, for example when we all went to karaoke and bonded over Wiz Khalifa's ‘Black and Yellow’, or the many arcade games and bowling adventures.
