I read, in last years’ Excelsior publication, that the students who took part in the rst Internation Education Forum are now approaching their 20th year. What an amazing legacy. We look to you to have even more impact over your next 21 years. The threats facing this planet are many and we are most certainly reaching, if not already beyond, a tipping point, but I have faith in your inestimable capacity to do good and make the world a better place. Throughout this week you will have learned a great deal about sustainable goals, discussed ways in which you can make a difference locally and further beyond. Let me please give you some final thoughts, upon which you can reflect, that will hopefully provide that little bit of extra encouragement; 1. Leadership is a behaviour and requires discipline and integrity – no one will hear your message if you say it in the wrong way or undermine it by your actions 2. Be in command of your brief – you need knowledge and a convincing argument to win over dissenters and make them change their behaviours 3. Develop your art of passionate but courteous discourse – be respectful in your interactions but steadfast in your convictions 4. Be positive, humble yet impatient and demanding – when you do not see the leadership you want from your leaders – you change them from within. In closing, I wish you all the very best for yours, and our collective futures. I would like to thank the following people for their involvement in this wonderful conference and our first invite. I hope you all have a wonderful conference.いうことを伝える記事が「エクセルシア」の昨年号に掲載されていました。本フォーラムには驚くべき歴史があるのです。今、ここにお集まりの皆様が、今後21年間の世界に、より大きな貢献をされるよう期待しています。今、地球は多くの危機に直面しており、転換点を迎えてはいないとしても、そこに近づいていることに疑いの余地はありません。それでも私は、皆様が、皆様の持つ計り知れない能力を駆使して、地球のために良い行動を起こし、地球をより良い場所に変えていかれることを、信じてやみません。この一週間を通して、皆様は持続可能な目標について多くを学び、地元やその他の地域において、どうすれば変革をもたらすことができるのかについて、話し合われることと思います。最後に、私の考えの要点を幾つかお伝えします。それらが皆様の心に残り、皆様を少しでも勇気づけられるものとなってくれることを願っています。1. リーダーシップとは行動そのものであり、規律と品格が必要です。間違った言葉や不誠実な行為によって、伝えたいメッセージを聞き入れてもらえなくなる場合があります。 2. 自分の信念を正しく伝えられる人になってください。相手を論破し、相手の行動を変えさせるには、知識と説得力のある議論が必要です。3. 熱意に満ち、かつ、礼儀正しい話し方をする術を身に付けてください。相手には敬意を払って対応しつつも、確固たる信念を曲げてはいけません。4. 前向きで謙虚であることが必要ですが、我慢をしすぎず、要求度を高く維持することも大切です。リーダーがリーダーシップを十分に発揮していないと感じる場合は、内側からリーダーを変革させてください。 最後になりましたが、皆様一人一人と私達皆の将来が明るいものとなることを願ってやみません。また、この素晴らしいフォーラムへのご協力と私たちの招待について、龍澤学館の龍澤正美理事長、盛岡中央高校の千葉研二校長、そして本日のゲストである前国連大使の谷口誠様に心より感謝します。 本大会が素晴らしいものとなりますよう、お祈りしております。EXCELSIOR vol.2117
