goal, because I want to work in the performing arts. As I will explain in detail later, a big performing arts school event called SOPA at Davidson High School in Sydney is held every year. It was so attracted to it that I chose to study in Sydney. If you took inside my head before studying abroad I thought I would study a lot when I went to study abroad. With a little effort I thought I would make friends soon. I thought I would be ne with my host family. That was the image I had. However, as soon as study abroad began, I realized the naivety of my thoughts. I've been listening to seniors and teachers for a long time, but I couldn't really feel a sense of danger unless I was actually in that situation.3. Bond with my host familyThe most troublesome thing about studying abroad was my relationship with my host family. I am not good at communication with people, and I needed to spend time alone. I couldn't live for about a year in other person's house without any problems. I visited a host family father in Malaysia and China, a Chinese mother, a 10 years old boy and a 7 years old girl. I always stayed in the living room because it is desirable to be with my host family. Therefore, I had very little time to be alone. Even when I entered the room, I could hear someone's voice and some noise, and I didn't feel rested. In particular, the mother and father argued that they were overreacting, and they were scared and unable to move. However, I did not make the host change. This is because I was able to convey my feelings to the host and solve the problem as a result of the discussion. We talked over several hours many times. Some of my friends changed host family without talking to the host family, and others who talked to them but did not resolve. Their problems of course I recommend that you discuss your problems with your host family. It's no surprise that problems arise because of poor communication and the inclusion of others in the family. It is important how to solve it. I think that hours of discussions have deepened my bond with my host family.4. SOPAIn June, the second term in which I was used to school, a school event called SOPA was held. SOPA is an event where the Davidson High School students perform songs, dances and dramas at big venues. Behind the scenes work is basically done by only a few selected students, called the stage crew. It is a very authentic concert. I chose drama and dance classes. Also, I was in an environment where I could easily audition to perform at SOPA, because I was a member of the vocal club. As a result, it was decided that we could perform in vocal ensemble, dance and drama. Thankfully, I was selected as a stage crew that can only be a dozen or so students. Actually, it is difcult for a performer to be a crew, but since I wanted to be a crew, I always tried to appeal as much as possible from the beginning of studying abroad. Thanks to that, I was able to do a lot of what I wanted to do at SOPA.SOPA practice began around the end of the first term. I was able to enjoy and practice without any particular pain, because I am good at dancing and drama. After two days of stage rehearsals, there was production for two days. Due to the crew's work, I was scheduled to meet at 7:00 in the morning and we disbanded in the middle of the night the four days. I'm grateful that host family picked me up for the four days. During this time, thanks to adrenaline, I didn't feel too tired to move around aggressively. I was disappointed that other crew members hated me as a Japanese. Therefore, I talked to a lot of people so I could find work for myself. Then many people started EXCELSIOR vol.2183
